Working the Polls

I fulfilled my civic duty and voted tonight.

I didn't vote in the primary. I really haven't been paying attention to any of the candidates or their issues. I mean, a part of me feels that after the last 2 presidential elections, it isn't even worth it to vote because most people's votes aren't really counted or there is always fishy stuff going on at the polls. Especially in Florida (a couple years ago, the dead had the opportunity to vote). But the other part of me feels that as a responisble adult, I should be paying concerned with the issues and trying to make some kind of intellectual contribution to society...we all know the people in charge of our government certainly aren't.

So, I did vote on our local issues: property taxes (increase in Homestead Exemption - hell yeah!), slot machines/casinos (to supplement "education" - yeah right), and making certain appointed positions elected positions (whatever). It was a very short ballot.

And I got an "I Voted Today!" sticker, which I was most proud of.

I can picture these 'dead people' like Return Of the Living Dead. One of them gets on the horn and says, "Send more brains." It aint gonna happen cause John McCain doesn't have any and neither does Romney nor Giuliani. Just write in your cat's name if you don't seen anyone good enough. 'Garfield' would be a dead giveaway, though.

I voted too, yay! I just totally lost all faith in humanity over these last two elections... I know totally what you mean, it's hard to get your interest up after something like that. I hope this upcoming one turns out better.
